Production Operations Lead
About this role
The Jordan Matter team is small and talented, and it ships a major video every week. We are hiring one person to own how the week runs. This role connects writing, production, and post so that decisions are made on time, everyone works from the same plan, and Jordan's time goes to the creative calls only he can make. You will not make creative decisions. You will make sure creative decisions happen early enough to execute well. You will report to Jordan. In person in Los Angeles. How we hire: a working session where we hand you a real week (an idea, a cast, a location problem, and a late change) and you build the plan, then a paid trial week inside the production cycle.
Responsibilities
- Own the weekly calendar from ideation to publish, and the rolling six-week slate of upcoming videos. - Set and hold decision deadlines: idea locked, outline locked, locations and gear booked, cast confirmed, edit locks. - Keep one source of truth per video (the shared video doc with a tab per department) and keep everyone in it. - Work closely with Jordan by phone and short messages: bring him the few decisions that need him and carry his answers back to the team. - Run the handoffs: writing to production on Thursday, production to post after the shoot, and post to publish. - Coordinate post: assign editors, set cut deadlines, run the co-watch review, and keep the whole video to its target length. - Route analytics feedback (retention, drop-off, title tests) to writers and editors in a short, usable form. - Manage Jordan's production calendar and give the team visibility into his availability. - Track budget and spend across shoots, and manage freelancers and PAs with the production and camera teams. - Keep systems simple: shared Google Workspace, shared calendars, and nothing the team will not keep using.
Requirements
- 4+ years as a head of production, production manager, or line producer, with at least some of it on a high-output YouTube channel or digital studio. - A record of bringing order to a creator-led team without slowing it down. - Clear, short communication. You can get a decision in one phone call or one text. - Comfort with plans that change weekly, and the judgment to know which changes to push back on. - Working knowledge of post-production workflow and schedules. - Experience managing budgets and freelance crews. Nice to have: - Experience with minors on set, brand integrations, or a TV or streaming production running alongside YouTube. - Familiarity with YouTube analytics and launch timing.
