Locations Producer
About this role
Jordan Matter videos happen in real places: malls, schools, restaurants, airports, stores, and homes that get turned into sets. Each week we need the right place, secured and ready, for a Sunday shoot. This role owns locations from first scout to wrap so our producer, Jake, can focus on producing. You will report to Jake. Based in Los Angeles and in the field most days. How we hire: a scouting test (given a one-line idea, bring back three location options with photos, costs, and a plan in 48 hours), then a paid trial week alongside Jake.
Responsibilities
- Find, scout, and photograph locations that fit each week's idea, often on two to four days' notice. - Build and maintain a location library: contacts, photos, rules, costs, power, parking, and what each place will allow. - Negotiate and close location agreements, including fees, hours, and what we can change or build. - Handle permits, certificates of insurance, and releases, and work with FilmLA where needed. - Build relationships with partners who can say yes fast, such as mall groups, retail chains, venues, and schools. - Plan the day at each location with Jake and the camera team: load-in, holding areas, power, crowd control, and the move between locations. - Make sure the location supports the creative. If a build is part of the idea, confirm the specs in the shared video doc before anyone builds it. - Run point on set at the location: the on-site contact, the clock, and returning the space as we found it. - Track location spend against the weekly budget.
Requirements
- 2+ years as a locations manager, locations coordinator, or production coordinator in LA. - A working contact list and a record of closing locations on short notice. - Working knowledge of LA permitting, insurance certificates, and location agreements. - Calm under late changes. A plan B ready before anyone asks. - Experience with shoots that involve minors, and an understanding of the hour limits and on-set rules that come with them. - A valid driver's license and your own vehicle. Nice to have: - Retail, mall, or brand partnership contacts. - Art department or set build experience. - YouTube or branded content experience, where the schedule moves weekly instead of monthly.
